Unlike most families who play cricket or go on picnics on the weekend, this family indulges in a sport that is extreme, competitive and an adrenalin rush, powerboat racing.

The Bollins Racing banner is flown in two different outboard classes: 1250cc with Geoff, Tim and Sarah and Yamato with Kristie.

Commodore of the UHPBC, Geoff, 59 years old, has been in motor sports for over 40yrs starting in speedway bikes and moving into powerboats for the past 25yrs. Geoff has won several titles in his years of racing which has earnt him the respect of his peers and his family as his son Tim and daughter Kristie have followed in his footsteps “Its great to see they all love the sport much like I do”.

Son Tim, 27yrs old, has been racing for 19yrs starting in the junior ranks moving up to Yamato where he won numerous Australian Titles and set the current speed record, and now in the 1250cc class where he has proven most of his success and dominance. Tim has an outstanding record of over 50 consecutive wins and holds the current Australian speed record for the class of 103.82mph. As you can see he is a tough competitor who doesn’t hold back. “Even though they are my family, we still are competitors and we all race to win, its great to be racing with my wife and father”.

Daughter Kristie, 27yrs old started out in the junior class as well and is carrying on from where her father and brother finished off in the yamato class. Kristie has already shown the success much like her father and brother holding the current Australian and NSW titles and being the champion in this class for the past 4 years. Being in the sport for 15yrs she is always trying to get the best out of her boat with the encouragement and support from her family. Kristie has also achieved a new title to the Bollins team, the UHPBC Club Champion, the first for an outboard “I even beat my dad and brother” Kristie says. Kristie would like to say a big thank you to Owen and her mum Maureen for all their help and support.

Tim’s wife Sarah, 26yrs old, has now stepped into the 1250cc class. Sarah has been around powerboats all her life, with both her parents, Frank and Ann Bodziony being involved in the sport with The Piece and She’s the Piece. When Tim and Sarah met she helped him at all the race meetings getting involved anyway she could, “I loved helping and learning all I could about the sport, motors and the competition” she said, so it was inevitable that she would end up in the seat of a boat. Carrying on the tradition of her family Sarah is now racing under She’s The Piece and is doing her family proud, “my parents have always supported me and now is no different. They love being back in the sport and are helping me achieve my full potential”. This is Sarah’s first year in the boat and has already achieved 2nd in the 1250cc Super Stock Australian Title and is enjoying mixing it up with her husband and father-in-law.

The Bollins Racing team would like to thank all their sponsors who have helped out over the years: KIM Haulage, Light Commercial Spares, KL’s Cut Above, Ann’s Embroidery and LM Racewear. The team would also like to thank all their crews who have helped them achieve their numerous successes and a final BIG thankyou goes to their dad, Geoff.
